Car battery starter problems will detain you from getting where you need to. If you have come outside, got into your car and turned the key, only to find that nothing happens you will need to figure out the cause. Assessing car starting issues can be a case of hit and miss in some instances. What might be a dead battery could just as easily be a starter problem, because the symptoms are quite similar. Let’s take a look at some symptoms and see how to diagnose them.

1 – Starting Problems

When your car won’t start, turn the ignition on and you will note that your dashboard light illuminates. Leave this on for a second and have a look at your gauges. It might seem daft, but it’s amazing how often people run out of gas without realizing. Check your gas gauge first. If it is operational and you have fuel in there, you can eliminate this as a possible cause. The next thing to do is turn the engine on. Listen for the sound you get. Is the engine trying to turn over? Are you getting it sparking but it won’t catch? If this is happening when you try to start your car, it could be a spark plug issue.

2 – Battery Problems

If you attempt to start your vehicle and all you hear is a low whining, it could be a low battery. If your alternator is faulty it will not have charged your vehicle during your last journey, and the car will have been running only on battery power. When this occurs, the battery cannot charge and will, therefore, run down. If this is what is happening, you can use jumper cables and another vehicle to get you started, but you will need to have your alternator tested or replaced. The battery will continue to not receive a correct charge, so it will die down again very quickly. If the alternator is not the problem, it could be that your battery is old. The cells inside the battery can dry up and rust. When they get dry they lose charge and die very quickly. Some newer batteries are sealed units and you can no longer check inside them to maintain their health. If you are able to look inside your battery, make sure all the cells are covered with clear fluid. This clear fluid is usually distilled water and you can top up the cells with the same.

3 – Starter Issues

If you turn the key to start your engine and all you hear is a ‘click’, there is every chance your starter is malfunctioning. It is a very similar sound to a completely dead battery, so check the battery first. Your starter has what’s called a solenoid, which can have a weak spot inside. This weak spot prevents the starter from creating the correct current to start your car. If you have ever had a faulty start you will probably have tried the old trick of bashing it with a hammer to loosen the solenoid and get the motor started. This trick will still work to get you on your way, but it doesn’t solve the underlying problem. You should look into getting your start motor replaced at the earliest convenience.

Introduction

The main thing that usually breaks on a jump starter is the battery. These units usually contain a lead acid battery with a finite lifespan. It is possible and simple to replace but usually not financially worth doing. If the unit does not hold a charge but functions while it is plugged in then it is most likely a faulty battery.

This teardown is not a repair guide. To repair your Jump Starter Power Station, use our service manual.

    • Power Station Jump Starter

    • Model PS1100

    • The bad battery could be replaced to restore it to full functionality.

    • Opening it up reveals the Lead battery, AC/DC converter, 12V DC input, switch, back of circuit board, back of light.

    • Additional bells and whistles are sometimes added (lights, switches, compressors, power jacks, etc.) Some have AC power jacks which require a DC/AC converter which is more expensive than an AD/DC converter.

    • The battery to the left is the culprit of the dead power supply. A jump starter is nothing more than a small car battery with some wires.

    • Any 12V battery with the same dimensions should work as a replacement

    • This is a Lead 12V 17AmpHours battery made by Pilot battery Co. Ltd.

    • Model PL17-12

    • Both power inputs. AC/DC converter and DC 12V input.

    • The designers of this jump starter simply purchased an aftermarket AC/DC adapter and built it in.

    • The adapter has an input of 120V (typical outlet voltage) and an output of 15V (perfect for charging a 12V battery).

    • Left - DC Power Jack, Right - Thermal Relay for safety and protection

    • Circuit board with your typical LEDs, Resistors, Transistors (black half circles), IC chips (long black), Capacitors (disks and cyliders), buttons (right middle) Power Rectifier (left middle square), Diodes (small black, bar on one side), Piezo Speaker (large and round, bottom)

    • Light with 5 LED's

    • Big Switch to handle 12V

    • The back module is the compressor. It will still function normally by application of a 12v power supply.

    • I did not disassemble the compressor. I will bolt a plexiglass cover over the top and solder a 12v car adapter to run it as an emergency compressor

    • I have a walk through on recycling the compressor on instructables.com

Aug 10, 2018  Spider Solitaire is a popular game in Windows 7. I just upgraded to Windows 10 and Spider Solitaire is nowhere to be found. I've read that it's supposed to be included in Windows 10. Spider Solitaire, also known as Microsoft Spider Solitaire (Spider in the About box in some versions), is a solitaire card game that is included in Microsoft Windows. It is a version of Spider. As of 2005 [update], it was the most played game on Windows PCs, surpassing the shorter and less challenging Klondike -based Windows Solitaire. Spider Solitaire Rules Objective. Spider Solitaire is a solitaire game where the objective is to order all the cards in descending runs from King down to Ace in the same suit. Once a run has been completed, for example King of clubs down to Ace of clubs, then the whole run will be removed from the table. Where did spider solitaire go from my games. Spider Solitaire Rules of the Game Spider Solitaire is a popular variation of a single-player card game, and often played using two decks of cards. Similar to traditional solitaire, the objective of the game is to clear or expose all the cards.
